Dr. Dimitar Bechev is Adjunct Professor at the University of Sofia where he teaches European Studies and International Relations. He is also affiliated with the European Institute at the London School of Economics and Political Science, United Kingdom. In 2015-2016 he is a Visiting Scholar at Center for European Studies at Harvard University. Dr. Bechev received his D.Phil. in International Relations from Oxford University in 2005.
Previously, he headed the Sofia office of the European Council on Foreign Relations, where he had been a Senior Policy Fellow. Dr. Bechev has written extensively on the politics and history of modern Turkey and the Balkans, EU external affairs and Russian foreign policy. He is a frequent contributor to Al Jazeera, CNN, Foreign Policy and openDemocracy.
